Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Samarth:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
I often say my journey didn’t begin with ambition — it began with survival. I grew up in an environment that looked functional from the outside but was deeply unsafe on the inside — emotionally, mentally, and at times, physically. I learned to stay silent, to overperform, and to survive at any cost. Those years shaped my understanding of what safety, trust, and self-worth truly mean.
In 2020, when the world went still, my own world fell apart — I lost my job, moved back home into an environment that no longer served my growth, and started facing my own mental health head-on. That’s when I began my first podcast, Perception 101, as a way to explore how people see themselves and the world. It was never about answers — it was about curiosity and honesty.
After a few more years in corporate life, I realised I could no longer build a life that looked good but felt empty. In December 2023, I started my own practice as a Safe Space Life Coach, creating spaces where people can meet themselves without fear or judgment.
Since then, through workshops, 1-on-1 coaching, and sessions with people across ages and backgrounds, I’ve built two initiatives that reflect this mission: Between Brackets, a parent-teen coaching space to rebuild connection, and Unfreeze The Self, an ice-bath and breathwork experience where people meet themselves beneath resistance, fear, and ego.
Everything I’ve built comes from one truth — that healing and growth begin the moment we stop pretending to be fine and start listening to what’s real. And the philosophy that guides it all: “When things change inside you, things change around you.”
How did you discover your passion?
2020 changed everything for me. It was a year that stripped away every illusion of control — I lost my job, moved back home, and found myself facing emotions I had spent years avoiding. That’s when I began becoming conscious of my mental health. It wasn’t a graceful journey; it was devastating, raw, and deeply transformative.
In the middle of that chaos, I started my first podcast, Perception 101, with a vision to create conversations around mental health, social stereotypes, and unconventional paths people choose in life. Every episode became a reminder that people just want to be heard — without being fixed or judged.
Around that time, therapy became a consistent part of my life, helping me unlearn, process, and rebuild. Later, I attended a retreat by Life By Design, where I experienced life coaching for the first time. Watching coaches hold safe, powerful spaces for others made something click within me — it felt like home.
That experience, along with the few safe spaces I had been lucky to find in my own life, led me to start my journey as a Safe Space Life Coach. Since then, I’ve been devoted to creating what I once needed — spaces where people can feel seen, heard, and safe enough to grow.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
Honestly, what keeps me going is connection and reflection. Every person I work with, every session I hold, somehow connects me back to myself. I get to witness people in their most honest moments — and that reminds me that we’re all just trying to figure life out in our own ways. That kind of realness keeps me grounded.
And then comes reflection — sitting with what I’ve experienced, what I’ve learned, and how it’s shaping me. Because every story I hear, every safe space I help build, changes something inside me too.
That’s really the beauty of this work. The more I help others create safety within themselves, the more I understand my own layers. It’s not about being perfect or having it all figured out — it’s about staying curious, connected, and aware that the world outside is always reflecting the one within.
That’s what keeps me going — knowing that every moment of connection is also an invitation to grow.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
The first lesson — a safe space isn’t something we find; it’s something we build inside ourselves. For a long time, I kept searching for safety in people, validation, or control. It took years to understand that real safety begins when you can sit with your truth — the fear, the confusion, the noise — and not abandon yourself in the middle of it.
The second — healing doesn’t mean you’ll never struggle again.
It means you’ll know how to meet your struggles differently. I’ve learned that discomfort isn’t the enemy — it’s often the doorway to growth. Growth doesn’t happen when things get easier; it happens when we stop running from what feels hard and choose to stay present instead.
And the third — everything changes when you do. The outer world always reflects the inner one. The more connected you are to yourself, the deeper your connections with others become. Because at the end of the day, connection is the medicine — it’s what helps us heal, belong, and keep moving forward.
Those three lessons have shaped everything I do — and they’re what keep me human in this work, always learning, always coming home to myself.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
For me, success has never been about achievement — it’s about alignment.
I’ve had phases in life where everything looked good from the outside — the job, the stability, the image — yet inside, I felt disconnected. That’s when I learned that real success begins when your inner world and outer world start to match — when what you say, do, and feel move in the same direction.
The first key for me is self-awareness — knowing who you are beneath all the noise and labels. The second is courage — to stay true to that self even when it costs you comfort or approval. And the third is connection — because no matter how self-aware or strong you become, we all need spaces and people who remind us of who we are when we forget.
To me, success isn’t about getting somewhere — it’s about living in alignment with yourself, even when the path looks nothing like what you imagined.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
If I could tell students and young professionals one thing, it would be this — don’t rush to have it all figured out.
We grow up thinking that clarity is a straight line, but it’s actually something we build slowly through experiences, mistakes, and reflection. The pressure to “get it right” often makes people disconnect from themselves — and that’s where most burnout and confusion begin.
Take time to understand who you are beyond what you do. Learn to listen to yourself — what energises you, what drains you, what feels true even when no one’s watching. That self-awareness is your compass; it’ll guide every decision better than any external advice ever can. Also, don’t be afraid of discomfort. It’s not the enemy — it’s often the space where real growth begins.
And lastly, stay connected — to people, to purpose, and to yourself. The world outside will keep changing, but your inner alignment will always be the most valuable career asset you have.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
What makes this journey satisfying for me is that it’s real. Every session, every workshop, every story I hear reminds me that change doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. Watching someone finally breathe a little easier, or seeing them meet themselves with kindness for the first time — that’s the kind of success I never get tired of.
The exciting part is that this work keeps evolving with me. As I grow, my spaces grow too. I get to keep learning — from teenagers who teach me honesty, from parents who teach me patience, and from every person who walks in thinking they’re here to be fixed but leaves remembering who they are.
This journey gives me both purpose and peace — because I know I’m doing work that doesn’t just change lives on the outside, it shifts something within. And for me, that’s where the real magic has always been.
